Hangzhou, a lovely city in Zhejiang Province, more than 10 thousand people live adjacent to downtown are involved into an interesting business – traditional bamboo crafts. They devoted to those valuable craft skills and inherit Chinese traditional crafts. In fact, these traditional crafts are not competitive in market because they are not in keeping with the modern aesthetic. In this case, we want to succeed traditional culture in a different way. We are inspired from the structure of bamboo and hope to develop it in modern crafts.
We are amazed by the modern processing technology of copper products. So we want to develop the traditional elements by modern processing technology. We believe that it can bring new vigor and vitality into traditional culture.
We are discussing with an Italian designer- Anna Gilli.
First Concept
Prototype in bamboo material.
We found that the prototype made in bamboo is too weak to hold clothes. So we decided to use the copper material.
Imitate the bamboo joint. It can also avoid some little things drop into the tube.
In order to make the crack more steady, we assemble four spacers under the base.
